Greetings, speed junkies!  

When you think of racing games chances are your mind goes to titles like Gran Tourismo, Forza, and even Mario Kart. But racing doesn’t necessarily require rubber to interface with tarmac.

Today, in addition to updates on some projects you may already know, we’re looking at two new racing games that break the boundaries of gravity and take racing to the Z axis.

For some extra alpha, both games have opportunities to get in early and earn airdrop points towards their token release.

Celeros Pre-Alpha on the Rise with Alpine Esports

While scrolling through X last week a post caught my eye. It was AAA-level gameplay of what I can only describe as a flying F1-style drone-car blasting down the streets circuit of Singapore.

Little did I know that my immediate impression was damn close. The game being featured was Celeros, by Saltwater Games, which had launched its free-to-play pre-alpha on Steam on the 10th of June.

Needless to say, I immediately downloaded it and begun learning everything I could about it. Here is what you need to know.

• The game was launched for Steam Next Fest, a limited time event featuring upcoming games

• You can download it now on Steam, but is currently only available on Windows

• Celeros is holding the TXR Challenge from June 24-28, where anyone can try their hand at topping the leaderboard on the Aero Bay track

• For a limited time, players can claim a special Alpine Esports livery

• They are introducing their own token, $XR. The first mixed reality gaming/governance token

• Their ecosystem is built on the XR One network. A dedicated layer-3 chain on Arbitrum.

• Early members can participate in quests to earn TXR on-chain points that qualify you for XR airdrop

Downlaod Celeros to Get Limited Edition Alpine Livery

In partnership with Alpine Esports, pre-alpha players can claim a limited-edition Alpine livery as well as TXR rewards. But you’ll need to get moving. As of publication, you only have about 4 day to take advantage!

McLaren Fans Guide to Web3

McLaren is no stranger to Web3. Their on-chain community offers fans a unique opportunity to engage directly with the team, earn rewards, and influence the direction of the NFT digital collectible program.

By embracing Web3, McLaren Racing is enhancing the fan experience, fostering a more interactive and rewarding environment for the Papaya Army.

They recently published an article that talks about their foray into web3. It may be remedial to us on-chain natives, but it is worth a read to learn how to become part of the community.

Exiled Racers - Base Racing League

Today was race #1 of the Base Racing League from Exiled Racers (EXR). Those who signed up to participate were able to mint a free EXR Multipass.

Multipass holders then received two pilots, two racecraft, and two boosters, which can be combined in any combo of three to create your racing “stack”.

I went into this knowing very little about the gameplay beyond the basic concept. But I came out of it with a much better understanding. Specifically, I learned that configuring a stack that is best suited to the track is the primary strategy to win races, as the actual race results are algorithmically decided.

What is EXR?

It is an odds-based NFT based racing and prediction manager. Racers curate their racing stack and enter races to compete for top spots on the leaderboard and chances to collect rewards.

Then there are “Prophets”. These are spectators who place predictions on who they think will win based on performance attributes and odds. Prophets can earn XP and help their racers climb the leaderboards.

What exactly XP does beyond leaderboard standings, I am still figuring that out.

So, How Did I Perform?

The stack I selected had me at a 28% chance of winning, with a likely outcome of finishing in second place. As it turns out, that’s exactly what happened. This P2 finish resulted in 100 XP and 80 RPM (their in-game currency)

When I watched my automated race replay, there was a moment there I really thought I was going to win it! But in the end, the player with the best stack took the W.

The Wilder World is for All (WWIFA) Contest

Open-world cyberpunk racing game Wilder World is about to initiate a 1-month long competition for the Wilder Nation, kicking off on today, Friday, June 21st.

This contest is all about teamwork. To participate Form a team of three and work together to compete in all aspects of the contest. The full details will be shared on their Discord server, and the prizes will be revealed next week.
